To the leaders in our lives...
Aug 17, 2024I'm talking to the ones leading their families, communities or even their workplaces. To the ones who persistently work hard without complaining. To the ones who sacrifice their free time to provide for those around them. To the ones who far too often feel under appreciated. We see you, we need you and we thank you.
You are our protectors. You keep your people safe. But, what or who keeps you safe?
Is it, you... again? Do you, rely on you, as well as everyone else? Yes, you are amazing and it's understandable if you're a little exhausted.
You can love looking after your people and still need a breather. But, how? Is it a box breath, alternate nasal breathing or perhaps a gentle breath? There is so much advice on how to do something as simple as breathe these days.
My two cents for what it's worth is whatever works for you. Does that way of breathing make you feel the way you want to? And for those who love the science, the physiological sigh might be one for you.
They say it's the quickest way to calm your system:
Two quick inhales followed by a 'sigh' exhale.
Did you just try it? How do you feel? I've observed people often instinctively do this when they are soothing themselves after a cry (as the nose gently clears). Don't you just love when your intuitive knowing meets scientific backing.
Give it a go and let me know?
In kindness,
P.S: If you want to explore breathing as an extra tool to deal with...(well all you are dealing with), perhaps our Ease Breathing mini module can be of assistance? We gently guide you through baseline breathing and finding ease in your everyday breath. Plus some tips on breath control for when your moving or exercising.
