Tessa is a physiotherapist with a background in exercise science and a passion for breathing mechanics and breath re-training. In 2018, whilst working in England, Tessa had the opportunity to complete Mary Massery's course, If You Can't Breathe You Can't Function, at Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital in Nesodden Norway. Tessa incorporated many different techniques utilising natural neuromuscular patterns to assist with coupling breath and movement. She then assisted Mary in 2019 as a teaching assistant at the same course held in Sydney.
Broadening her skills within the area of breath re-training, she completed her Level 1 and 2 courses under Tess Graham from BreathAbility. She is able to assess and treat dysfunctional breathing patterns through identifying poor habits and educating on physiological normal breathing. Breath Re-training can ease symptoms associated with anxiety, asthma, sleep apnoea, persistent cough to name a few.
Recognising the significant role the mind and central drive of the brain in overall wellbeing she wanted to broaden her skills into a therapy targeting the mind. As a result she has gained her Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Applied Psychotherapy and Neurolinguistic Programming. Clinical Hypnotherapy acts directly on the subconscious mind. The place which holds the automatic patterns underpinning our behaviours. It is a tool that can help re-wire ineffective behaviour/thought patterns , assist with identifying and processing emotions, as well as reduce your brain's perception of pain.
